LAWCX currently offers workers’ compensation coverage at $250,000, $350,000, $500,000, $750,000, and $1,000,000 retained limits, or a member can attach directly to the purchased excess insurance.
LAWCX covers the layer above the member’s retained limit up to $5 million. For excess coverage, LAWCX is a member of the Public Risk Innovation, Solutions, and Management (PRISM). For the program year 2022/23, PRISM provides statutory coverage for workers’ compensation.

Reach Us for coverage questionsWe provide coverage for workers’ compensation losses incurred under the State of California Workers’ Compensation Law and Statutes and within the limits of program coverage. LAWCX excess claims are handled by Sedgwick.
Contact Claims ManagerThe 2022/23 risk control plan includes tools and resources to help members initiate wellness programs for their police departments, member benefit presentations, and return-to-work programs The LAWCX membership has access to the Sedgwick Risk Control website which contains tools such as a sample program for Return-to-Work, and a Job Analysis library. Online resources also include a recorded webinar library, streaming videos library, publications, as well as, sample programs and forms.
Members may request on-site services for training, consultation, program development, and customized webinar development. On-site services provided by Sedgwick may be eligible for direct fund transfer through the Risk Control Reimbursement Program.
SafetyMadeSimpleA total of $40,000 has been allocated for member risk control reimbursements. The reimbursements are limited to $2,000 per direct member and are available on a first come, first served basis. The expense must be directly related to workers’ compensation or workplace safety. Funds must have already been expended, or Sedgwick services quoted, and use of the risk control reimbursement plan pre-approved, prior to reimbursement.
